Writing Historical Fiction - Part 1

We've got some preliminary choices to make -

I've known ten authors of historical fiction in my life. Two were horrible, odious men, cynical and hateful. Six were known to me only in their professional capacity, pleasant enough but all business. Two I loved, and whenever we visited, we talked about virtually anything except historical fiction.
