Our book today is In Your Garden, a collection of some of the gardening columns Vita Sackville-West wrote for the Observer from 1946 to 1961. Owing to the gardening passion that has governed England for a thousand years, the column was boisterously popular, generating sacks of mail after every installment. This little volume reprints columns from ’46 to 1950, and it was a hit that produced at least three sequels.
