At the beginning of Frank Herbert’s much-loved science fiction novel Dune, set thousands of years in the future, the book’s young hero Paul Atreides is given an antique as a gift. The giver is the family doctor, Wellington Yueh, and neither Paul nor his family suspects that Dr. Yueh will soon betray them all to their deadly enemies. At this point, Paul still sees him as a trusted teacher.
