Our book today is Conan the Raider, one of two Conan pastiche novels written by Leonard Carpenter in 1986. I first read it a bit later, in a paperback reprint with a dark, bush cover very much in line with the visual ethos of the Tor line at the time, and I mostly liked it. But it long since slipped away to one of those mysterious places all my discarded books go. A bookstore sale? A fellow Conan fan? A hungry young beagle puppy?
