The most recent New York Times Book Review was excellent fare, full of the usual good (Dwight Garner being mean and dismissive to former wunderkind Garth Risk Hallberg), the bad (Hugh Ryan being mulish and unappreciative of Allen Bratton’s Henry Henry), and the boring (Rachel Slade’s review of Higginbotham’s excellent new book about the space shuttle Challenger). There were reviews of books I’ve read, books I haven’t read, and books I wouldn’t read for all the mud in Egypt, and most of those reviews behaved themselves.
